Drs. Brad Phillips and Marian “Marnie” Reven recently attended the 40th Annual Southern Nursing Research Society (SNRS) Conference in Austin, Texas.
The theme of the conference was “Committed to Nursing Science.” This milestone event celebrated four decades of advancing nursing science, elevating the voices of nurse scholars, and improving health outcomes across the diverse communities we serve throughout the Southern region.

Dr. Phillips gave an oral presentation titled, “Associations between Sociodemographics, Home and Community-Based Services, and Caregiver Experiences,” a poster presentation titled, “Protocol for Online Data Collection: Protecting Integrity and Preventing Fraud” with co-authors Drs. Roger Carptenter and Heather Carter-Templeton, and a post-conference workshop titled, “Demystifying Literature Reviews: Understanding Review Types and Review Screening Applications” with colleagues at Georgia State University.
Dr. Reven gave an oral presentation titled, “Consensus-Based Reporting Guideline Extension for Aromatherapy Research.”
In addition to sharing their scholarly work, Drs. Phillips and Reven were able to learn from other nurse scholars from across the region and network with a host of doctoral students and nurse scientists. They also spent some time with therapy dogs from Divine Canines from Central Texas.
If you’re interested in learning more about SNRS, Dr. Phillips serves as the state liaison for the state of West Virginia and would be happy to connect. He can be reached at brad.phillips@hsc.wvu.edu.
