The West Virginia University School of Pharmacy's Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program recently received continued accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The accreditation is valid until 2033 — a full eight years, which is the maximum time for ACPE's accreditation. Continued accreditation is contingent on the School maintaining its current quality standards throughout the accreditation term.
ACPE is the national accreditation agency of professional pharmacy degree programs and providers of continuing pharmacy education. The WVU School of Pharmacy's reaccreditation site visit took place in Morgantown and included interviews with faculty, students, alumni, and preceptors with final determination by the ACPE Board in its January 2025 meeting.
"The full 8 year continued accreditation of our PharmD program is reflective of the outstanding work of our award-winning faculty as well as dedication of our students, alumni, and preceptors" said William Petros, PharmD, dean of the WVU School of Pharmacy. “This is consistent with our mission of providing students with the highest quality education and practice experiences that will prepare them to be exceptional pharmacists, delivering outstanding patient care."
The WVU School of Pharmacy has consistently been known around the country as a leader and celebrated 110 years of pharmacy education at WVU in 2024.
