Continuing education opportunities scheduled for Oct. 3-4

The West Virginia University School of Dentistry will host the Eastern Society of Teachers of Oral Pathology (ESTOP) Annual Meeting this fall in Morgantown. Scheduled for October 2-4, 2026, the continuing education opportunity will take place at Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place and is open to all oral and general pathologists, dental professionals, and dental residents and students. The event is presented in corporation with the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

This year’s event will include a welcome reception, multiple continuing education sessions, and the organization’s business meeting.

Registration is now open.

On Friday, Oct. 2, attendees will be welcomed with a reception and networking opportunity, including dinner.

Continuing education sessions begin Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8:30 a.m. with a presentation by Luis Flores, MD, titled “Oral diseases associated with dermatologic conditions.” Dr. Flores is an assistant professor in the WVU School of Medicine Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Laboratory Medicine and a pathologist at WVU Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology. This session is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credits.

At 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Gustavo Torres, MD, will present “Lymphoproliferative disorders: Diagnosis in small biopsies.” Dr. Torres is an assistant professor in the WVU School of Medicine Department of Pathology, Anatomy and Laboratory Medicine and director of the pathology residency program and a pathologist at WVU Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology. This session is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credits.

Rounding out the day, Brad Neville, DDS, will present “Oral signs of systemic diseases” at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Neville is the director of oral and maxillofacial pathology at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a graduate of the WVU School of Dentistry and Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. This session is approved for 2 hours of continuing education credits.

The final continuing education session will take place Sunday, Oct. 4, following the ESTOP business meeting. Beginning at 9:15 a.m., the ESTOP Case Exchange will provide attendees with the opportunity for 3 hours of continuing education credits. This session will allow attendees to present a clinical case for others to learn from and use for teaching purposes.

Registration will be available through Sept. 11. The registration fee for professionals is $300, and the registration fee for residents and students is $120. In addition, a special reservation rate is available through Sept. 2 for attendees staying at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.
