Tara Scatterday, associate vice president of strategic communications and institutional relations for West Virginia University Health Sciences, has been named to the Executive Committee for the Counselors to Higher Education (CHE) Section of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). Scatterday is also a member of PRSA’s Health and Life Sciences section and is a member of the West Virginia PRSA chapter. 

The Counselors to Higher Education section is a community of senior-level communications leaders who serve higher education institutions. Through in-person programs, publications and webinars, this specialized group of nearly 600 members share knowledge, analysis and trends to have the tools they need to serve as strategic public relations and communication leaders for their colleges and universities. The Executive Committee guides the strategic vision and leadership priorities of CHE.

"Health care is a top economic driver in this country and in our state and telling that story well has never been more important." 

Scatterday has served in numerous leadership roles while at West Virginia University Health Sciences, including as executive director of communications and institutional relations for Health Sciences and director of communications and marketing for the School of Medicine. With a background in health care communications and marketing, her career spans advertising and promotions agency account management, hospital and non-profit marketing and communications, and environmental education and stewardship promotion and outreach.  

PRSA is the leading professional organization serving the communications community through a network of more than 400 professional and student chapters in the U.S., Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico.
